It is meant to repair the issues that have existed in both the iPhone 6S and the iPhone 6S Plus.

Apple has now released a long awaited statement meant to explain why there has been a nagging smartphone battery life indicator on the most recently versions of its iPhone, the 6S and the 6S Plus.

It stated that the main problem was that the indicator had been reporting a higher charge in the device than was true.

The reason Apple gave for the smartphone battery indicator problem on the iPhone 6S and Plus models was that it had been registering that there was a greater percentage of juice still left in the device than what was actually the case. It would remain at a higher charge percentage without dropping, despite the fact that the actual level of power left in the device was notably lower. Apple explained that the problem is related to the device software and not the hardware. This made it possible for a fix to be created and issued.

The software fix, however, does not represent a permanent solution to the smartphone battery problem.

Those users were complaining that their smartphones were dying much more quickly than their on-screen indicators were saying should be the case.

At first, it had been assumed that it was an issue with the actual battery inside the latest iPhones. However, Apple has since discovered that it is a software problem. It has released a temporary fix, but it is investigating the issue so that something more permanent can be implemented. That said, that permanent solution has yet to be discovered.

According to the company, “If you change the time on your iPhone 6s or iPhone 6s Plus manually or change time zones when traveling, you might notice that the battery percentage doesn’t update… Apple is aware of this issue and is investigating the cause and a solution.”

The smartphone battery life indicator fix involves restarting the iPhone and making sure that the “Set Automatically” feature has been selected in the Date & Time options. Until something more long-term is developed, it may not be a bad idea for a portable charger to be carried alongside devices that have been unexpectedly running out of charge.
